Brownies a la Michelle

Michelle loves her chocolate. Her brownies with chocolate chips are yummy!

Pizza

OKAY - so it is too hot to bake, so my blog stopped. DEAD in it's tracks. BUT - I had to make my stuffed pizza. It takes a few hours to make with all of the rising dough, rolling out, and so on. The sauce is delish if I do say so myself. Roma tomatoes, Parmesan cheese, fresh garlic, oregano, etc.
So - you start with a layer of dough, put the Mozzarella cheese and toppings on it. Put another layer of dough on it and slice 3 slits in it. Crimp the edges down and place the sauce on top.
Great. I am hungry again.

Mathew's Cookies

OK - so it has been a while. A little baking, a LOT of getting things ready for the end of the school year. Mathew is graduating this year. This is his latest contribution to the family cooking. He is a good cook, and a great baker - here is a shot of his latest cookies.

Safety in an old recipe

This is my favorite Snickerdoodle recipe - Thanks Mom B. for this one.
Of course, her cookies always taste better ;-)

Yesterday's good news

The good news is that you don't judge a book by it's cover. Or a cake by it's looks. This cake tastes better than the Chocolate Volcano at any restaurant. Thank you to my taste testers. You have saved me 10 lbs just from this cake alone!

The frosting was to die for! Who would have thought that if you mixed unsweetened chocolate, evaporated milk and sugar that life could be so good? YUMMY

Setting the bar low

Well, this is not a great way to start my baking blog. Failure. Yes, failure. I found out that 1 cup of hot cocoa does NOT equal 1 cup of coffee as a substitute. Flat cake. GREAT smell though.

Am I giving up? Nope, I am trying the same recipe, but using less liquid. Maybe that will help.

Who will eat my mistakes?

Baking fun

So it all started when I watched Julie/Julia. I thought - wow! she went through a whole cookbook in a year.
I don't want to do that HA! But I do like to bake. And I have a great set of cookbooks. So...here goes!

While I was out with friends, the theme seemed to be "just like Joan" and that is where the name came from. It was funny, but fitting on many levels. It could be used as in: "It's Just like Joan to do a crazy thing like a blog" or I want "O Brownies" just like Joan"

Enjoy my experiments -
